Fees and Referrals

Referrals

You do not need a referral to see a psychologist, but if you want to claim a Medicare rebate, a referral from a GP or Psychiatrist is required.

Your GP or psychiatrist can refer you under a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP). Under the Mental Health Care Plan you will receive six (6) Medicare subsidised therapy sessions. After six sessions a progress report is sent to the GP with the possible recommendation for another four (4) sessions. You can only access 10 sessions in one calendar year under the MHCP.

Fees

The fee for one session (50 minutes) is $195.00.

If you are referred by a GP or Doctor under a MHCP you will receive a Medicare Rebate of $131.65 per session. The Medicare rebate will be processed for you after attendance of the session. We will need your bank details to process the Medicare rebate.

If you have a private health fund you can access psychology sessions without a referral by a GP. It is advisable to enquire with your private health fund as to their contribution and if your policy has an annual limit. You will be responsible for claiming the rebate from your private health fund. We will be send you an invoice with a receipt for payment to claim your rebate from your private health fund.

NDIS clients

Self-managed NDIS clients or clients who are plan managed by a third party the 2022-23 NDIS scheduled session fee for psychology services per session applies. We will invoice you or your plan manager and payment is required within seven (7) days by bank transfer.
